This post makes me laugh. I actually made this costume. He always put it on so it looked so funny. I also made a size 2 clown for Beth and a clown costume for me. Beth was actually 2 ten years before this picture was taken. That means he wore this costume many years. I wore mine for the rest of my teaching career. My first graders always said, "We know what you're going to be Mrs Butler". elb
I'm certain that Lou left this costume hanging in his school closet year around. It was big enough to fit over his clothes. In a matter of minutes he could be ready for the big occassion --the Halloween parade and party. His students paraded around the block in their costumes. Of course, the leader of the parade was Lou. He didn't just walk at the head of the 600 or 700 students. That costume gave him the right to 'goof off' and act silly the entire parade. One year he carried a basket ball. He would bounce it around (dribble it), twill it around his finger, act like he was making a basket, toss it to one of the students or even to a parent who might be nearby. He was in good condition, and he could keep this up around that long block without even getting out of breath. When they went inside, he was ready to visit the parties in each room. If the weather was bad, they paraded in the school. He would start with one room. They would parade in the next room Then that room would join them and they would go to the next room. Before long, the entire student body was parading through the school. Lou had so much fun--as much as any student or maybe even more. elb

A very amateur family historian and genealogist. Hopefully my passion for the subject will make up for my lack of skill and training. Enjoy my work in progress!
